Last rendezvouz before the full moon and the cliff
Lucas was sitting on his bed, tears running down his eyes and he sniffled.
He had ran away from Ransley two weeks ago, and he had been like a total wreck ever since. He had left him, standing there in front of Poppy’s all alone. He knew he had done the right thing, but deep down he felt bad. He didn’t want to be that guy: that guy who gave up without a fight. That guy who wouldn’t listen the other one’s explains. That guy who just decided it was over.
He wanted to give Ransley a chance to explain himself. He hadn’t gave that chance to him earlier, but now he regretted it. So much. But he knew he couldn’t see Ransley anymore… Not after what he had done to Ronald.
This whole sitting on the bed, crying and thinking about Ransley had became Lucas’ every day tradition, and he knew perfectly well he should stop it immediately. It was just so hard, Lucas did not have the power to make himself suck it up and move on.
A small rock hit Lucas’ window and he jumped up to his feet, heart racing. Then another small rock hit his window. Lucas had no idea who it could be but he sure as hell knew who he hoped it would be. He walked to the window, pushed it open and looked out.
“As is a winged messenger of heaven, unto the white-upturned wondering eyes of mortal that fall back to gaze on him”, Ransley declaimed, reaching his arm towards Lucas’ window. Lucas had to use every bit of his self control so that he didn’t say “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?” back at Ransley. He felt, without meaning to, happy to see Ransley. He had thought Ransley had left the town because he hadn’t heard about him for weeks. But there he was, under Lucas’ window. He took a deep breath and said: “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“Throwing rocks at my Juliet’s window”, Ransley answered and the familiar smirk played on his lips.
“This is like a bad soap opera”, Lucas said and then it hit him. “Oh, my God. My life is like a bad soap opera! Every bit of my life is straight from a bad soap opera.”
“Can I come in?”
Lucas shook his head. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
The smirk on Ransley’s lips disappeared and he got serious.
“Please, Lucas”, Ransley said. “You promised to remember!”
It was weird for Lucas to see Ransley so vulnerable. He was so used to seeing him confident and strong. Now his shoulders were slumped down and he looked tired and sad.
Lucas didn’t say anything, he didn’t dare to do that, but he did, however, move away from the window, leaving it open. In a matter of seconds Ransley climbed through the window inside the room. He walked straight to Lucas, but Lucas dodged him and walked to the window, head in his hands. He tried breathing slowly in and out. He needed to stay calm. He needed to keep his cool and not let his emotions take control.
Suddenly he felt hands on his shoulders and soon Ransley appeared in front of him, holding him by the shoulders. Lucas let his hands drop down and he looked at Ransley with reddish eyes.
“Lucas...”, he whispered. “I never wanted to hurt you.”
“But by hurting Ronald you hurt me”, Lucas said, turning his gaze away from Ransley. “How do I know if any of that was real? If you really cared about me?”
“You know it from this”, Ransley said and kissed Lucas. Lucas forgot how to breathe but he managed to turn his head sideways, cutting the kiss short. Ransley leaned his face against Lucas’ neck. Lucas could feel the tender kiss that Ransley gave to him on his neck. Shivers ran down on Lucas’ spine and he suck in air, trying to calm down his beating heart.
“Don’t”, Lucas whispered, with no real strength in his shaky voice.
“I don’t want to force you to anything”, Ransley whispered against his neck, hugging Lucas. “Tell me you don’t love me and I will leave. Forever. You can keep on living your life and forget about me. You don’t have to struggle with your feelings anymore. Just say the words, and I will leave you alone. But I want you to– I need you to know that I didn’t do it to Ronald on purpose. I lost control because of the pain. I’m so sorry for that.”
Lucas opened his mouth, his intention to do exactly what Ransley had told him to do: tell him that he didn’t love him and that Ransley should leave. But as he felt Ransley’s body pressed against his, Ransley’s breath tickling his neck and his heart beating in sync with Lucas’, he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t say what he was supposed to say.
Lucas pushed Ransley back, then took a hold of his face and pulled him in for a kiss. Ransley was quick to answer to the kiss and wrapped his arms around Lucas tightly. They packed away from the window and fell together on Lucas’ bed so that Ransley was lying on top of Lucas. Never once did they break the kiss. Lucas’ fingers were sunk deep in Ransley’s hair and Lucas gently pulled his hair, making Ransley moan. He kissed Lucas harder and gently bit his lower lip. A smile spread on Lucas’ face and he held Ransley’s face in his hands and stared him in the eye.
“I know it’s wrong”, Lucas said with a husky voice, “but you make me happy and I’m not ready to let go of that.” He kissed Ransley quickly and then said: “But I do need to hear everything. And by everything, I mean everything. But later, not now.”
“I will tell you whatever you want, no lies. No more secrets”, Ransley promised and his eyes flickered between Lucas’ eyes and lips. “I haven’t felt this way in a long time.”
“How long?”
“Like a century.”
Lucas kissed Ransley. “That is a long time.”
“I was waiting for something special.”
“And I’m it?”
“You’re it”, Ransley confirmed and Lucas smiled, feeling for the first time since finding out Ransley is a werewolf that he was in peace.
