For the next week Ronald and Lucas did not speak to each other. Or more like Ronald did not speak to Lucas even though Lucas tried his best to talk with Ronald, ask him what was wrong and why he was pissed.
“Think about that”, had been Ronald’s answer before he stormed away, leaving Lucas alone.
Lucas tried to think about what he could’ve done to piss off Ronald so badly but he didn’t come up with anything. He had no idea what he had done wrong and Ronald acted like a stereotypical woman and refused to actually tell him. Apparently Ronald expected Lucas to read his mind which in turn pissed Lucas off. He thought that Ronald’s answer ‘think about that’ had been about as useful as a condom in Charlie Sheen’s wallet and that said a lot.
About a week after school and silent treatment, Lucas got tired of trying to make Ronald talk with him so when he saw Ronald walking away from school he jogged to him and said, “I’m tired of this. I have no idea what I have done wrong but I’m tired of trying to make you act like an adult. If you want to end our friendship here then it’s fine. I’m done.”
That pissed off Ronald even more.
“Ah I see”, he snapped and stopped walking. “You’re ready to let our friendship die that easily?”
“You’re doing nothing to help the situation!” Lucas yelled in return. “What am I supposed to do, read your mind? I’m sorry for whatever I did to you!”
“It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t do!”
“You’re not making any sense!”
“Neither are you!”
“You know what?” Lucas said, angry look on his face. “You have more dick in your personality than you have in your pants and I’m done! I don’t deserve this kind of treatment.”
Lucas turned around and walked away, leaving a very angry Ronald standing alone at the school’s gates. People were staring at Ronald who just narrowed his eyes at them and turned around, walking to home.
He stepped inside his home, slammed the door shut and walked through the empty house to his bedroom.
He walked back and forth angrily, too angry to do this homework.
He couldn’t believe Lucas.
After all these years Lucas wasn’t going to try any harder to fix things? Deep down Ronald knew he wasn’t acting fairly or anything like that, but he couldn’t help it. He wanted to be childish and make Lucas suffer. He deserved it for not telling and lying at Ronald. He had let Ronald think he was dating a girl and probably laughed at Ronald behind his back when he had been all bumped about the news.
“Fuck you, Lucas”, Ronald muttered out loud, just to make himself feel better. It didn’t work, he actually felt even worse.
Next Friday Farrah and Ronald had yet again another tutoring session. Ronald was having a hard time to concentrate and Farrah noticed it. At first she didn’t comment it in anyway but soon even she got annoyed with Ronald’s apparent sulking.
“Okay, what’s up with you?” she asked, putting her pencil down. “You sulk like a little kid and this is the second time you do this when I try to tutor you, what the heck is wrong?”
“Nothing”, Ronald muttered, feeling ashamed for upsetting Farrah.
“I don’t buy it”, she said. “Tell me.”
Ronald sighed.
“It’s Lucas”, he admitted. “We had a fight.”
“So?”
“What do you mean by that? I said that we had a fight!”
“And I said ‘so’. Friends fight, and then they kiss and make up. It’s normal”, Farrah said.
“No, you don’t understand”, Ronald insisted. “Lucas and I never fight. Never. This was the first time and now we haven’t talked in weeks.”
“I’m sorry to hear that, that sucks”, Farrah said and offered a small smile to Ronald. “Do you miss him, though?”
“I– uh, umm… Kind of?”
“Then you should try to work things out with him”, Farrah said. “It’s simple as that.”
“It’s not...”, Ronald muttered but Farrah had stopped listening to him and continued her tutoring with a loud voice again.
After the free period was over, they went to their classes and when the school day ended, Farrah and Ronald walked out of the school. They stopped by Farrah’s yellow bike and Farrah turned to look at Ronald who was a little bit distracted because he saw a man standing by the school’s gates.
What was Ramsey doing there again?
“Ronald?” Farrah said, trying to get his attention.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“I was just wondering if you would like to go to see a movie with me some day?” she asked while putting her long dark hair on a ponytail.
Ronald was caught off guard. “What?”
“I asked–“
“I heard you”, Ronald said quickly. “I meant… You want to go to the movies with me?”
“Yeah.”
“Together?”
“Yes.”
“Just the two of us?”
“Yes?” Farrah had started to sound incredulous.
“Like a date?” Ronald asked, still not sure if he really understood what was going on. First he turned into a werewolf, then Farrah freaking Livingstone asked him out. What next, Ramsey starts dancing ballet?
“Yes, Ron, like a date”, Farrah said, now smiling. “What say you?”
“Sure, yeah!” Ronald said, trying not to sound too excited. “I’d really like it.”
“Some time next week?” she asked. “I’ll give you my number, text whenever.”
“Okay”, Ronald breathed out as he typed in Farrah’s phone number. He couldn’t believe this was happening. He had Farrah’s phone number! And she had willingly given it to him and expected him to text her!
Farrah cycled away and Ronald stared after her for a long time until he suddenly remembered Ramsey waiting by the gates. He turned around and jogged towards Ramsey.
He could see Ramsey’s displeased face far away and he had a feeling he was about to get a lecture even though he had no idea about what. He had no idea what he had done wrong now.
“Hi, what are you–“
“You shouldn’t date. You have more important things to concentrate on”, Ramsey said, interrupting Ronald right away. “You should leave dating out of this until you’re able to control yourself.”
Ronald got mad. He had a habit of doing that easily nowadays.
“Who are you to tell me what I should and shouldn’t do, huh? You disappear for weeks, leaving me alone to deal with this wholethingand then you suddenly just appear to tell me that I can’t date a girl I have liked for years? Fuck you, Ramsey”, Ronald rambled. Lucas would’ve been proud that Ronald had the balls to talk back to Ramsey.
It made Ramsey angry, although that didn’t require much because the way Ronald saw it, Ramsey was angry all the time.
“I’m trying to help you, you little dipshit”, Ramsey basically growled.
“As if I will turn in the middle of the day into a werewolf”, Ronald hissed. “I can’t harm anyone when I’m human, so there’s no point of helping me at the moment!”
“You don’t know everything! Now that you’re a werewolf you have more temper. You feel things even more strongly, you get angry easier, you–“
“I don’t care!” Ronald yelled, not even really listening to what Ramsey was talking about even though he should have.
“Fine, have it your way then”, Ramsey said and instead of swirling his finger and disappearing he started walking away. Ronald stared at his back going further and further away and he was so angry, his angriness rising with every step Ramsey took.
First Lucas, now Ramsey. He had managed to piss off everyone around him. Great. Ronald huffed in annoyance and started walking back home.
By the time he got back to home he had cooled down a little bit and actually managed to think rationally. Had Ramsey been right? Was his emotions stronger now? He had been pretty sensitive lately. And he had snapped easily.
“Aw, shit”, he muttered. “Ramsey’s right, again.”
He thought about Lucas and his clear overreaction with that thing. He decided that after the weekend when Monday rolls in he would talk with Lucas and they would kiss and make up like Farrah had said.
He wanted his best friend back, even if that meant swallowing his pride.
